Episcopal Homes employees lose big

From November to December, staff participated in a “Biggest Loser” competition on campus. Employees gave $10.00 to enter that was pooled to create the prize after the final weigh-in on December 18. Josephine Vanier was our biggest loser. She lost 17.2 lbs and got to take home the cash prize of $110.00. Josephine works in medical records at the Episcopal Church Home (ECH).

A second round of this competition will begin the first week of February and go until Friday, June 5. Lisa Rainey, Admissions Coordinator for ECH, will be leading the second round. A $10.00 entrance fee is due at the first weigh-in to enter on Monday, February 3. Marvin Plakut, CEO, will be matching the total amount of money in the pot! Two winners will be announced–one for the biggest loser and one for the biggest transformation.

Your $10.00 includes monthly weigh-ins, weekly email inspiration and support from Lisa. A monthly goal will be set for each participant. If you reach your monthly goal, each month 0.5 lbs is subtracted from your total weight loss at the end of the challenge. If you miss more than two monthly weigh-ins, a 0.5 lb penalty is added to your total at the end. This challenge is meant to motivate each other; full participation increases motivation.

If you have health insurance through Episcopal Homes, you can also get a discount at the YMCA. Regular membership fees are $71 adult or $35 college membership at the YMCA. Contact Patrick at 651-747-0834 for details on membership pricing. We also have two workout rooms available for use on campus.
