Employee Scholarship Program

You may apply once per year for a scholarship towards education. For degree programs in nursing-related occupations, you may request up to $10,000 per year for up to three continuous years of education. Professional and graduate degree scholarship requests are for up to $5,250 per year. You may apply for up to three years. Continuing education/professional development courses are awarded on an individual basis. All scholarship awards are dependent on availability of funds.  

 

Once accepted into an education program, apply for financial aid through your college. The Episcopal Homes scholarship is submitted directly to your school after other financial aid is applied to your tuition. 

 

Two rounds of scholarship awards for degree programs are made annually – spring and fall: professional development and continuing education are ongoing rolling applications. 

 

 

EMPLOYEE ELIGIBILITY 

All current permanent employees of Episcopal Homes including department supervisors/managers apart from the facility administrators are eligible. You must meet these requirements: 

  • Be permanently employed without interruption at Episcopal Homes for three months and have worked a minimum of ten hours per week on a fixed schedule at the time of application. 

  • Work an average of ten hours per week (20 hours per pay period) during the time covered by the scholarship. 

  • Must have and maintain a good attendance record. 

  • Be in good standing at work. 

  • Applicants must have a positive reference letter from their manager. 

 

APPROVED EDUCATION PROGRAMS 

Education leading to advancement in the applicant’s position or within the facility including: 

  • RN, LPN, CNA educational degrees/programs 

  • Bachelor’s degree programs 

  • Associate degree programs 

  • Master’s degree programs 

  • Social Work/Aide 

  • Dietary/Food Safety/Nutrition 

  • Other programs providing career advancement within Episcopal Homes 

  • The above list is not exhaustive, other types of education may be included. For specific questions on which educational programs or training are eligible, please contact the scholarship manager. 

  • See your manager regarding continuing education courses such as: 

    • Adult Basic Education (ABE) 

    • Professional Development such as Trained Medication Aide (TMA), dementia certification, conferences, therapy aide and others 

    • ·Leadership training

  • Tuition 

  • Books 

  • Required Fees (on tuition statement) 

  • Required Supplies (as outlined in course syllabus) 

  • Transportation (with limits) 

  • Childcare expense (with limits)  

 

APPLICATION PROCESS 

  1. Complete application online at: www.employees.episcopalhomes.org/employee-scholarships 

  2. Attach transcript of grades from prior years (if applicable).

  3. Attach Financial aid award letter (if applicable). 

  4. After submitting the application your manager will automatically receive a request for an endorsement and is asked to write a reference for you. 

  5. Human Resources will validate your employment. 

  6. The application goes to the Scholarship Committee for review and award decision. 

  7. If the application is approved, an award letter is sent for your review and signature
